Knowledge Institute of Technology (Autonomous) is a brainchild of Eminent Professors from leading Engineering Colleges and pioneering Entrepreneurs, with a philanthropic vision to offer Quality Education. The college was started by Knowledge Institute of Technology (KIOT) Trust with Dr.PSS.Srinivasan as the Founder in the academic year 2009-10. The KIOT Trust is unique in the composition of Trust members; 20 Trust Members are with Ph.D. qualifications and got rich experience in Academic, Research and Administration in leading engineering institutions. Moreover, the trust members themselves are occupying key positions such as Executive Chairman, Principal, Director (Administration), Director (Placement), Director (Career Development and Training), Director (Student Affairs), Director (Infrastructure Management) in KIOT and dedicate them to impart high quality technical education to the students.
The institution is successfully stepping into the 16th year of its dedicated service. The institution offers B.E. Programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering and B.Tech. Programmes in Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
It also offers M.E. Programmes in Industrial Safety Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI Design, Embedded System Technologies, and MBA programmes. A new MBA programme in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Venture Development has been introduced in the academic year 2024-25 for fostering Entrepreneurship in the region. Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering departments have got recognised research centres for pursuing Ph.D. degrees in different emerging areas.
The college has been accredited with “A” Grade by NAAC. Four B.E. programmes viz., Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering have been accredited by NBA. The college has been given autonomous status by UGC and Anna University in the academic year 2022-23. An industry-based curriculum has been fully implemented from 2023-24 with a right blend of open electives as emerging technology verticals and department industry verticals. MoUs have been signed with leading international universities, with QS ranking, across the globe for faculty and students exchange, faculty development, curriculum design and research.
KIOT seats are filled within Top 50 positions among 400+ self-financing engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA). The college has well qualified faculty, state-of-the-art laboratories to prepare the students to meet the dynamic requirements of the industries and to face the challenges in the competitive environment.
The college has over 70 clubs, forums, and professional society chapters to cater to the needs and interests of the students. Centre for Career Development and Training offers a unique Student Development Program for over 1200 hours, with a right blend of Employability Skills and Personality Development. Centre for Foreign Languages offers Japanese language certification courses in N5, N4, and N3 levels, which culminate into the placements in India and Japan. The institution is well connected to both core and IT industries for Placements and Internships. The institution has established 30+ Industry linked labs and Centres of Excellence for training the students on emerging technologies and placement. Every year, more than 90% of the students get lucrative placement offers from leading multinational companies.
The Higher Education Cell of the institution facilitates the students to get admissions in the higher learning institutions in India and abroad. The Career Guidance Cell help the student to prepare them for the coveted positions in state and Central government.
The KIOT AICTE IDEA Lab fosters excellence in product development and innovation, encouraging the growth of start-ups and entrepreneurship. Through KIOT Incubation & Start-up (iStart) cell, a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem is created in the campus. This initiative empowers students to become passionate entrepreneurs.
KIOT is an active member of Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) since 2018 and has been conducting activities such as Field Visit, Technology Business Incubation, Smart India Hackathon. KIOT also launched KIOT-Innovation Start-up Policy in-line with National Innovation Start-up Policy.
KIOT has earned numerous accolades and awards, including the VVDN Top Educator Award, Best IEEE Chapter Award, Best Band Performer Award in the ARIIA Ranking, Best Performing Institution Award for the Institution’s Innovation Council, Tamil Nadu Government’s Naan – Mudhalvan Award, SHL Employability Award, Best Engineering College Principal Award from ISTE New Delhi, Best Researcher Award. Furthermore, KIOT was also ranked among the top three in the AICTE-CII Survey of Industry-Linked Institutes across India.
The students of the institution have won many awards in the contests conducted by leading corporates viz, GE Edison Challenge, Virtusa Jatayu contest, Quest Global Ingenium, Zoho Cliqtrix, SAE India Baja, ICTACT youth contest, SAE Aero Design challenge, EDII’s Hackathon, Smart India Hackathon.
The 6000+ alumni are working in leading multi-national companies and occupying key roles in different govt. departments. KIOT has a registered alumni association to connect the alumni across the globe for the benefits of the students and institution.
KIOT has been actively participating in NIRF since 2015.
