Centre for Career Development and Training

The Centre for Career Development and Training (CDT) at Knowledge Institute of Technology (KIOT), Salem, is dedicated to shaping students into competent professionals and responsible individuals. It focuses on building both employability skills and life skills through a comprehensive, structured, and progressive training program spread across four years.

With more than 1200 hours of training, the program has been meticulously designed to ensure students are prepared not just for their first job, but also for lifelong success in their personal and professional lives.

Employability Track

The employability track is aimed at bridging the gap between academics and industry expectations. Students undergo intensive training in key skill areas:

Communication Skills (300+ hours)

    • Mastery of spoken and written English
    • Business communication and presentation skills
    • Professional etiquette and confidence building

Problem-Solving Skills

    • Quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and data interpretation
    • Analytical problem-solving to clear competitive exams and placement tests

Programming Skills (350 hours)

    • Strong foundation in programming languages and coding practices
    • Exposure to problem-solving using C, Python, Java, Data Structures etc.
    • Hands-on coding exercises aligned with industry needs

Group Discussion Skills (50 hours)

    • Developing articulation, critical thinking, and listening skills
    • Training in handling stress, defending ideas, and teamwork

Interview Skills (50 hours)

    • Mock interviews for HR and technical rounds
    • Grooming for body language, confidence, and articulation
    • Preparation for core and IT companies’ hiring processes

Life Skills Track

The life skills track equips students with personal growth skills, making them all well-rounded individuals who can adapt to different life situations:

Soft Skills for Life (30 hours)

    • Self-confidence, adaptability, and emotional intelligence
    • Positive mindset and stress management techniques

Values & Ethics (40 hours)

    • Awareness of professional ethics and workplace discipline
    • Instilling honesty, responsibility, and social commitment

Interpersonal Skills (30 hours)

    • Building strong relationships and teamwork skills
    • Conflict resolution and empathy in communication

Entrepreneurial Skills (60 hours)

    • Developing initiative, decision-making, and leadership qualities
    • Exposure to entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and management practices

Personal Finance Planning (20 hours)

    • Basics of savings, investments, and financial literacy
    • Building financial discipline for long-term stability
